Hi this is Josh Weiss of 10 to 1 Public Relations
A lot of people have come to me recently to ask for some advice
regarding public relations during COVID-19.
I wanted to create this video to give you a couple of ideas you can
implement on your own for your company.
This tip is about sharing your expertise.
There are a lot of companies out there right now that are doing
some really excellent work on creating safety programs for their
essential employees. What I’m advising you to do is
share that with others in your industry. Don’t keep it to yourself.
Everyone needs to know the great ideas that you’re implementing.
We all want to take advantage of that. Don’t feel like
you’re keeping the advantage to yourself. Think about it
as sharing the advantage for everyone.
One of our clients is Rosendin.
They’re the largest employee-owned electrical contracting firm in the U.S.
They’ve got more than a dozen divisional offices all over the country.
They do huge projects like stadiums, data centers
you get the idea. What they did is they
created a really fantastic safety program for their crews
for when they are on these essential job sites,
and they’re still working on all these different projects right now,
and instead of keeping it to themselves they started sharing it with the
companies that are on the job sites with them and other
companies within the industry. All of a sudden, everyone started
sharing and adding on to that plan and building a
really fantastic document that has become more of
an industry standard, which everyone is implementing, everyone is
working together to build a stronger opportunity to keep everone on
a job site safe.
It’s great in the short term obviously for your employees but
it’s also fantastic in the long term, from a Rosendin perspective
because now they’ve got
all these different things that they’ve done to help other companies
and these companies in the long term are going to remember
what Rosendin did on its part, to play its role,
to try to keep the entire community safe.
and who wouldn’t want to work with someone like that in the long term?
Take advantage of your knowledge. Share it
during this time when everyone wants it and needs it.
It’ll build your reputation long term.
